We are trying to configure SMTP Alerts (in Appliance-based). Our port for SMTP is 75. We configure the alerting. Once we are trying to test mail, it said that:

WARNING: ServersCheck was unable to perform a TCP check on port 25 (SMTP port) to a test server. This may indicate that a local firewall on the PC hosting the software or elsewhere in your network may prevent ServersCheck from sending out emails. If you intend to use a mail server that is in your local network, then you may ignore this message.

Error: Could not login to server using given credentials

Firewall is off and No Anti-virus in the Appliance.

What could be the reason of this error.

Error indicates that mail server replied with message stating that the username and password used for connecting to the mail server aren't correct. Check with your mail server admin

We put the right username and password to communicate to our mail server but we encountered the same error.

The server login failed with the credentials provided

You can always try using the mail server of your ISP. This is typically an open relay server on port 25.

Alternatively you could try and configure Gmail to send out the email alerts

We already used our mail server using port 75 by using this format:

mail.agdatacom.com:75 as mail server name.

We can able to get alerts via email.

But the scheduled reporting is not working. We tried the same mail server name there but we can't get any mail for scheduled reports.

here are the parameters that we used:

Mail Server Name: mail.agdatacom.com:75
Report Name: Test Scheduled Report
Report from: alerts@agdatacom.com
Report to: techsupport@agdatacom.com

All days are ticked, at 17:00

We can preview the report, but no email report received.

What could be the cause?

As per user manual, scheduled reports require a mail server on port 25 without authentication.   No other mail server type is supported

Noted.

By the way, would you recommend any mail server type to be used? is it possible to use gmail, yahoomail, or other free mail account?

Gmail isn't an open relay server - it requires authentication. Typically ISP's have an open SMTP relay server that doesn't require authentication and that runs on port 25
